Citrus Rehabilitation
Exercise Physiology and Women’s Health Canberra
Rehabilitation has a reputation for being hard going. It can feel clinical, isolating, or just plain daunting, especially when you are managing a chronic condition or an injury that has been around for a while. Citrus Rehabilitation in Canberra was built to change that.
Co-directors Eiland Kenyon and Kayla Tsakalos are both Accredited Exercise Physiologists, sharing the belief that recovery should feel positive, community-driven, and empowering. They named their clinic accordingly.
What Does an Exercise Physiologist Do?
Exercise physiology is not the same as physiotherapy, and it’s worth understanding the difference before you book. Exercise physiologists work primarily with chronic conditions and long-term recovery rather than the acute phase of an injury. There is no manual therapy involved.
Exercise is the primary tool, prescribed and supervised by clinicians who have studied the science of movement and chronic disease management. If you have just hurt yourself, a physio is usually your first call. Once you are past that acute phase, or if you are managing something ongoing, that is where an exercise physiologist steps in.
How Citrus Can Help You
The clinic’s primary focus is women’s health across the full life cycle. Adolescent athletes, pre and postnatal clients, women working through menopause, those managing PCOS, endometriosis, or osteoporosis, all are well catered for here. The team also works with men, and partners with several local footy clubs, including the West Belconnen Warriors and the Canberra Pirates. A dietitian and physiotherapist are on staff alongside the exercise physiologists, and the clinic is both Medicare and NDIS-registered.
What Citrus Clients Are Saying
With 45 five-star reviews, the picture that emerges is not just one of results. It’s a clinic that clients genuinely look forward to coming back to.
Kate says she cannot recommend Citrus highly enough and describes Eiland as truly incredible. Alana found her initial consultation surprisingly comfortable, noting that Eiland listened carefully, worked through her specific weaknesses, and gave her practical advice she felt confident using. Lowanna highlights the tailored approach, exercise programs built around her goals and injuries, with a holistic eye across fitness and recovery throughout.
“Citrus Rehab have made a big difference to my positive rehab after a long illness. I feel at home in exercise classes with others who don’t have these challenges. Good balance of personal attention and doing my program . Both Kayla and Eiland are fantastic – motivational, empathetic but always pushing you to your personal best.”

Your First Visit to Citrus Rehabilitation
New clients start with an initial consultation with one of the exercise physiologists. This is a thorough look at your history, your goals, and your specific needs. From there, the team will work out whether one-on-one sessions, group classes, or a home exercise program is the right fit, or a combination of all three.
Group classes run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12 to 1pm in a private, fully equipped gym with an exercise physiologist supervising throughout.
The People Behind Citrus
Both Eiland and Kayla are Canberra born and bred, and both grew up watching their families run their own businesses (Eiland’s father founded the famed Rubicon Restaurant in Griffith). That background gave them something you cannot learn in a classroom: the confidence to back themselves. They met in their first year of university, spent years working for other clinics, and eventually decided to open a health practice on their own terms.
Eiland’s background is in neurological rehabilitation, working with conditions like multiple sclerosis, stroke, and traumatic brain injuries. Outside the clinic, she has played in the Australian Women’s Ice Hockey League since 2016 and has represented Australia at the national level. Kayla’s focus is musculoskeletal and women’s health, and in her free time plays AFL for the Googong Hogs.
Citrus Rehabilitation is two years old and has already grown from two people to a team of seven. The longer-term vision is a full multidisciplinary hub, with multiple practitioners under one roof working collaboratively. This vision is well on its way.
If you are looking for an exercise physiologist in Canberra who makes the process feel comfortable, nurturing and effective, the team at Citrus Rehabilitation could be your ultimate support crew. Book an initial consultation and start there.
