Marita launched Aphra Aesthetics due to her passion for helping Canberrans improve their skin. She’s been working in clinical skin for over a decade, and has spent years running high performing clinics across Canberra, including some ranked within the top five in Australia and New Zealand.

Aphra Aesthetics operates from inside Weston Creek Chiropractic on Brierly Street, and Marita runs it as a sole operator, which means every consultation, every treatment decision, every follow-up comes from the same person. There’s no handoff to a different therapist, no variation in approach depending on who’s rostered on.

The work spans clinical skin treatments, including medifacials, chemical peels, microneedling, IPL, radiofrequency skin tightening, laser tattoo removal, and a dedicated Menopausal Skin Support Program. Her specialties include treating scarring, signs of ageing, acne and pigmentation issues.

About Marita Hambesis

Marita’s qualifications cover the clinical side thoroughly: an advanced diploma in beauty therapy, accredited training in pigmentation management, advanced chemical peels, fat freezing, and laser, with a Bachelor of Dermal Science currently in progress, alongside running the business. She also holds three levels of mentoring accreditation through the Wellness Breakthrough Academy, which allows her to develop courses and provide mentoring internationally, along with three additional hands-on certifications focused on the mental and emotional side of skin concerns. Her own experience with body dysmorphia from her early teens is part of what drew her into skin in the first place and shaped the way she works with clients. For Marita, what’s happening beneath the surface has always mattered as much as what’s visible on it.

Stepping Into Aphra Aesthetics For The First Time

The first consult runs in depth. For someone coming in with hyperpigmentation and acne, Marita works through the contributing factors behind the breakouts and explains the cause of the pigmentation before anything else, building a personally curated treatment and skincare plan around those findings. 

Clients who feel self-conscious about their skin find the environment calm and comfortable, with enough time and care in the room that what could feel exposing doesn’t. For clients who are typically nervous about having machines near their face, Marita talks through everything step by step, making sure they’re comfortable the whole way through rather than assuming they’ll just get used to it.
